World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.
For instance an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix changing the name of the item to which it is applied (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a significant possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate chance of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. item upgrading could drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is best to put Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example an Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a problem, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of a non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to boost the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade an object it has a chance of failing. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to revert back to its original state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like crit chance attack damage, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than regular gear. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. The player will still need to carry each piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of the upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost mentioned above.
